PART 3  

     Today we are headed for Madaba, where a mosaic map of the holy land was discovered in 1884 and a Greek Orthodox church was built over it. It is the oldest known (6th century) map of Israel, and might tell us where the 2nd temple was thought to have been located by the makers of the map. We left Madaba for Mt. Nebo, where Moses overlooked the promised land, and then headed to Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John baptized Jesus. What a day!
